Aberdeen MCCs 17th Northern Lights Rally
Words: Big Bri
Photies: Big Bri and Jane

Friday On the way home from work the temperature was reading 3oC, so I was not looking forward to the next two nights in a tent. Anyway we set off and arrived in Cruden Bay about 7 and went in to see Womble as he was taking my tent over, he’s had it since S&S 2006 I just never got round to collecting it, as it’s my “winter” one I thought it might be a bit warmer.

With tent in hand we signed in and had a look at what was on offer over the weekend, Friday night’s band was “The Limit” a young Inverurie band that we have had the pleasure of hearing a couple of times in the past, Mandy went over to say hi and during the conversation we were offered a lift home, now my own bed or a cold tent............ yip no competition we gratefully accepted the lift.

Now Jack was taking over and Mandy N me had taken up residence at the corner of the bar and between sharing a dram with old friends and making some new the night passed quickly, Al of “Bikers1” fame came up to the bar for a blether, now normally we would be in the field at the “top box bar” but I was under orders not to brake Al this weekend, see Vix I can do what I’m told sometimes, the band finished about midnight and Womble finished off the night with his disco. With chips an cheese ordered before we set off home our first experience of the Northern lights was off to a good start.

Saturday
Now the problem with getting a lift home was I had to get back on Saturday, phoned Ron as he often turns up on a Saturday but no joy as they had something else on but Jane was going up, phoned Jane and a lift was sorted.

“ Speedtrap” were the band we had to look forward to tonight and with Womble nocking out some weird and wonderful tunes we were set for another great night.

Now the problem with having a good time, fuelled by Sir Jack, is I can’t remember everything when it comes to doing a report but if you were there I’m sure you will remember some of these, like -

Jake showing every one outside why he is a fanny

and when a bus load of young ewes arrived in fancy dress Jake tried to get them to stand in a row with there backs to us and touch there toes, now the idea in theory was a good een bit diddna work ,

Shaky doing his bit for drug counselling, reminding every one to stay away from “crack”

and the mad Welsh man with his “nip” tankard,

Trophies were handed out for the usual stuff, got the pictures but can’t remember all the names

Kenny’s chop got best engineered

the Irish guys got the overseas award

Oddballs furthest travelled

Caledonian Phoenix best club turnout

Jim, Speedtrap’s singer, got the “tail of woe” he’s gonna be a daddy

Best Bike?!

Well Seth’s sacred rum lake survived and the Red House will need to be re-stocked, the door staff need to chill a bit, that imitation waxed bomber jacket would have looked better if he wore a “jobs worth” cap with it. Ian and the crew that are “Aberdeen MCC” and the staff of the Red House did a great job and as far as I know every one had a great time, and I’m sure this one will be on my calendar next year.

If you had an F3 card forced upon you and are visiting for the first time and would like a link to our site drop Fat Bob an e-mail and he will add you to our list of friends. Big Bri.
