Highlanders Rally 2007

Words and Pictures Steve L and Big Bri

Friday and escape from work about one and head hame to load up and head up to the 11th Highlander Rally.
Puggy arrived aboot four and with Mandy on the back we set off north in a misty hase o rainy shite. In past Tesco for fuel (Jack, Captain and Vodka) phoned Stevie and we were going to have this drizzle shite all the way. Stopped at Ash-grove (Berts) for supper and it had dried up a good bit when we came back oot.

Not being sure where we were going I missed the entrance to the Rally swung roon and parked up next to the rest of the crew and tracked down Kati who had picked up our tickets, thanks again Kati much appreciated.
Got a Cider to celebrate getting there and the slippery slope was getting steeper !!

Carol and Jane arrived we got the tents up and sat doon for a natter, this was in the form of the usual piss take and with the drink flowing every one was in good "spirit" we did think it was time to get a seat in the hall when Kenny did the "I'm a statue falling over" impression, he was quickly put back on his feet and given another drink to keep him occupied.

Into the hall and I did my usual wander round taking photos and gibbering shite to any one that would show an interest.

Saturday soon arrived and having been serenaded most of the night by someone playing a guitar and singing (he was quite good) I was ready for a coffee, round to the food hut and coffee was a plenty and free, "Stan the Man" was on the grill and the bacon was sizzling away, everyone slowly emerged and after bacon rolls and cider it was back to gibbering shite. Puggy set off to pick up Ali while the rest of us soaked up the ray's and the beer.

After the bar opened the drink was again flowing. Mandy came back from the bar and said it was soup and sandwiches for lunch and we better have some as it's not good "drinking on an empty heed" as it was a glorious day we thought we better stay in the bar in case we got sun stroke, it was during our extended lunch that Carol and Jane disappeared, could it have been them that filled Kenny's tent with balloons ?
Stan the man joined us after a stint in the kitchen, making curry, Stocky and Maria came in for a blether, a visitation from some Fat Bastards and the afternoon soon passed.

The Silly games commenced with space hopper fights, shopping bag race tug o war etc, everyone seemed to join in and have a bit of a laugh, most of this was at Gordie (S&S) see photo.

After the games supper was being served with such culinary delights as Stans curry, stovies, soup and stuff. So after filling up the tank it was back to fine art of "how much Jack can we get through the night"
Puggy and Ali arrived back and with the top box bar replenished normal service was resumed. Back to the hall once the bands fired up and another great night was on the cards.

Good bands, good food, good laugh, good hall, good friends what more can you ask for. It was one of those "you had to be there" weekends to appreciate the banter that flowed from Friday through to Sunday.
Thanks for a great weekend I'm sure we will be back next year.

Big Bri.
